On Track OHSU has a series of upcoming volunteer opportunities which range from going out to visit community schools to meetings students at OHSU for tours or discussions about different STEM fields. CURE Program at OHSU
Are you looking for mentorship experience in STEM? The CURE Program is a research mentorship training program supported by the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and the OHSU Center for Diversity and Inclusion. It is designed to offer research experiences to Portland area students that excel academically and come from socially and economically disadvantaged background. The goals of this program are to give hands-on research experience, science exposure and to increase participation of underserved and minority students in biomedical research and other health-related fields. Intel NW Science Expo
Did you participate in science fairs as a child? Intel sponsors science fairs throughout the Portland Metro Area and they are always looking for judges to help determine the winners! This is a fun way to get involved and to see the amazing things that young scientists are doing early in their careers. This year, the Expo is on April 12 at the Stott Center at PSU! BUILD EXITO
Have you found yourself wanting to support budding your researchers early in their career? Do you remember what it was like during college when you were trying to figure out what being a scientist might mean? BUILD EXITO is an undergraduate research-training program that seeks to identify students early in their college career and supports them on their pathway to becoming scientific researchers. Impact NW: AKA Science
Do you love working with children? AKA Science believes that all children are naturally scientists! This is a fun, hands-on science program for elementary and middle school kids that uses inquiry-based activities to get them excited about STEM! Are you passionate about helping underserved populations? The Bridges Collaborative Care Clinic is an interprofessional, student-led clinic that engages vulnerable populations by providing low-barrier, participant-centered care and services in the Portland Metro area. All are welcome to get involved!
Transgender Health Program
The Transgender Health Program at OHSU is dedicated to supporting access to high quality, affirming and welcoming health care for trans women, trans men, gender nonconforming, and non-binary individuals. Opportunities with the Transgender Health Program can include: community engagement, patient support, assisting with information and referral, workforce education, policy development, or program development. Children's Cancer Association
The Children's Cancer Association seeks to provide joy wherever possible to children and their families during their cancer treatments. As a part of that mission, they offer a Chemo Pal program so children can spend time with new, fun, trusted adult friends during treatment and a MyMusicRx program so children can learn and play some musical instruments.
