The GSO is excited to offer several awards to OHSU graduate students to recognize their academic accomplishments and further their professional development*.
GSO Student Engagement Award: This award, presented at the School of Medicine Awards Ceremony during Spring term, will be given to one non-GSO officer SOM graduate student who is exceptionally engaged in the GSO culture, operations, and fulfillment of our mission. The student will be chosen by the sitting GSO officers. The award recipient will receive $200.
GSO Exemplary Future Scientist Award: This award, presented at the annual School of Medicine Awards Ceremony, is intended to recognize a peer-nominated student that demonstrates the qualities of a fully-formed scientist (e.g. innovative, good scientific communication, collaborative, supportive of peers, resourceful, has a strong understanding of their field of study). Any current School of Medicine graduate student is eligible for nomination. In addition to peer recommendation, the selection process will take into account publications, presentations, awards, travel, outreach, and campus activities throughout the nominee's time at the University.
Nominations will be accepted here each spring, and nominees will be asked to provide their CV to aid the GSO in their selection of an award recipient. The selected awardee will receive $200.
