GSO Leadership in Service Award: This award recognizes a graduate student in the School of Medicine who has demonstrated a commitment to improving the community through service and outreach. The selected awardee will receive a monetary award.
GSO Student Mentor Award: This award is presented to a graduate student in the School of Medicine who has demonstrated exemplary mentorship through teaching, advising, training, or supporting other students and researchers at all levels, at OHSU or elsewhere. The selected awardee will receive a monetary award.
GSO Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Award: This award honors a graduate student in the School of Medicine who has made outstanding contributions to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the OHSU community. The selected awardee will receive a monetary award.
GSO Exemplary Future Scientist Award: This award, presented at the annual School of Medicine Awards Ceremony, is intended to recognize a peer-nominated student that demonstrates the qualities of a fully-formed scientist (e.g. innovative, good scientific communication, collaborative, supportive of peers, resourceful, has a strong understanding of their field of study). Any current School of Medicine graduate student is eligible for nomination. In addition to peer recommendation, the selection process will take into account publications, presentations, awards, travel, outreach, and campus activities throughout the nominee's time at OHSU. The selected awardee will receive a monetary award.
GSO Graduate Researchers United (GRU) Engagement Award: This award distinguishes a graduate student who is exceptionally engaged in the GRU union culture and operations, furthering the welfare of graduate students at OHSU. The selected awardee will receive a monetary prize.
Nominations for the above awards will be accepted here each spring.
GSO Student Engagement Award: This award, presented at the School of Medicine Awards Ceremony during Spring term, will be given to one non-GSO officer SOM graduate student who is exceptionally engaged in the GSO culture, operations, and fulfillment of our mission. The student will be chosen by the sitting GSO officers. The award recipient will receive a monetary award.
Honorary Resource Development Award: This award recognizes those that have created a resource that serves OHSU graduate students in an exceptional way. The recipients will be honored through a GSO-sponsored donation to the resource to help further the mission of the resource.
Travel Awards: All School of Medicine graduate students are eligible to apply for the GSO and School of Medicine Alumni Association travel awards, which are intended to recognize the exceptional work of OHSU graduate students while contributing to their professional development by helping fund travel for scholarly purposes. Multiple awards are distributed during Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms. See our Travel Award page for more information and to apply.
